Inbound Guidelines

(Updated Aug. 1, 2023)

The university requires all inbound shipments to the campus or satellite location sent by suppliers and other parties to be managed by the supplier until the goods are delivered to the UC Merced Central Receiving Location or other designated satellite location. This ensures that the supplier is responsible for managing the complexities of shipping, handling customs clearance, and guaranteeing the safe delivery of goods to the university. The supplier bears the risk of loss if the shipment fails to reach the campus.

Inbound Shipping Requirements

These requirements are typically managed through prescribed shipping terms at the time of purchase. Domestic shipments are subject to "FOB Destination" terms, while international shipments are subject to "INCOTERM Delivered Duty Paid (DDP)." Exceptions to these terms are rare and are managed by the UC Merced Procurement Agent overseeing the transaction.

Inbound Ship-To Locations

Deliveries to the Castle facility are also directed to central receiving at 5200 Lake Road so shipments can be consolidated and delivered to the castle by our logistics team. Most other satellite locations are authorized to receive deliveries directly and are managed by the department(s) that manage those locations.
