Central Receiving is the primary hub for campus freight deliveries.

  • Upon arrival:
    • These policies aim to streamline compliance, reduce administrative burden, eliminate waste and fraud, and encourage competition and transparency in procurement. Compliance is crucial for the University's prestige and access to federal financing access.
    • The competition requirements for procuring goods and services significantly impact the procurement process for federal grants and contracts.

After the package has been received and processed, we promptly send a notification to the intended recipient whose name is listed on the package.

Receiving Hours: Deliveries can be received between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on business days.

Standard Last-Mile Deliveries

  • We strive to ensure that most non-hazardous shipments reach their final destination either on the same day of delivery or within a span of 3 business days. Please keep in mind that delivery times may vary due to factors such as high service demand or other unforeseen circumstances.

Limited Storage Space

  • Due to very limited storage space in the central receiving area, we prioritize prompt delivery of large shipments to their final destinations on campus. As a result, it is essential for departments to allocate sufficient storage space for all incoming shipments.

For long-term storage needs, please refer to the warehousing section below, which may be an option in some cases.

Pickup Options

  • Packages can be picked up at Central Receiving by campus staff or faculty members for added convenience. Please bring the tracking information for your package to expedite the retrieval process. Central Receiving is open on business days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tracking Inbound Packages or other Deliveries

  • To expedite handling your goods or supplies, departments are encouraged to work directly with the supplier or utilize CBS 2 for tracking and arrival updates. When using CBS2, please provide the supplier's contact information and a tracking or purchase order number.

Refridgeration

  • Best efforts are exerted to ensure that inbound shipments requiring refrigeration are promptly placed into a refrigeration unit until they can be delivered.

Chemicals

  • All hazardous or chemical shipments received are carefully set aside until received and released by Environmental Health & Safety per campus chemical inventory control requirements. This is normally completed within same day or 1 business day of delivery.
